Marianne Cuhaci

Marianne has 40 years experience and her background is extensive and varied.

1979 to 1985

 

From 1979 to 1985, Marianne worked as a child protection worker with the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa. During this period, she became known for resolving matters on consent, thereby avoiding trial for the entire duration of her employment.

Marianne was also known for her expertise with adolescents and carried a caseload of teens, many of them Crown Wards. Marianne was also a member of the C.A.S. Board of Directors from 1984 to 1987.

 

1987 to 1992

 

From 1987 to 1992, Marianne was part of the multi-disciplinary team in the  Forensic Program at the Royal Ottawa Hospital, providing inpatient and outpatient services to clients struggling with mental illness and facing criminal charges.  While at the Royal Ottawa, Marianne also co-led the Incest and Spouses' group, part of the treatment program for incest offenders and their families.

 

1995 to 2002

 

From 1995 to 2002, Marianne joined the Family Court Clinic in Ottawa, where she conducted over 65 custody and access assessments as part of the Clinic's multidisciplinary team.

 

Since 2002

 

Marianne has been in private practice, focusing mainly on families undergoing separation and divorce, providing individual and family counselling, assessment, parenting mediation, mediation-arbitration, and parenting coordination services.

Over the years, Marianne has appeared in Court as an expert witness in custody and access matters as well as in child welfare matters.

Marianne speaks English, has a working knowledge of French, and can converse in Armenian & Turkish.

 

Marianne has been exposed to many cultures, both personally and professionally and is known to be culturally aware and sensitive.

 

Marianne’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University, 1979 and a Master of Social Work from Carleton University, 1987.

Marianne is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and of the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

Marianne is also an accredited Family Mediator with the Ontario Association of Family Mediation (OAFM), and a certified specialist in Family Mediation, Parenting Coordination and Family Arbitration with the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (FDRIO).
